The Icom IC-7760 is a high-performance HF/50 MHz transceiver designed for amateur radio enthusiasts seeking flexibility and advanced features. Its innovative design separates the control head from the RF deck, allowing for versatile installation options. Connected via a standard LAN cable, the RF deck can be positioned near the antenna feed point, reducing signal loss, while the control head remains conveniently accessible. This configuration not only saves desktop space but also enables in-house remote operation through a wired home network, eliminating the need for a PC.
Equipped with dual independent receivers, the IC-7760 allows simultaneous reception of two signals across different bands and modes without interference. Each receiver operates independently from the antenna to the speaker, providing identical performance for both MAIN and SUB bands. Dual spectrum scopes offer real-time displays of both bands, giving operators a comprehensive view of changing band conditions.
The transceiver employs an advanced RF direct sampling system, directly converting RF signals to digital for processing by a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). This architecture minimizes non-linear distortions common in traditional analog mixers. Additionally, the IC-7760 features a built-in high-performance antenna tuner, ensuring optimal matching across various frequencies. With a power output of 200W, it delivers robust performance suitable for both casual contacts and competitive DX hunting.
