Manufacturer: | Alpha Antenna |
Model: | Portable HF DX-NVIS Antenna |
The Alpha DX-NVIS Antenna combines the durability of the FMJ and the reliability of the U.S. Army's AS-2259/GR into a tactical wide-band system tailored for DX and NVIS communications. Operating across 1.8 to 34 MHz, it covers the full range of HF amateur radio bands with omni-directional radiation patterns optimized for EMCOMM and broadband communications. Designed for stealth, the system is mounted close to the ground to enhance ground-wave radiation, reduce signal detection risks, and maintain a low visual profile. Its tuner-free operation and quick deployment time make it an essential tool for emergency response and field operations.
Weighing just 5 pounds, the DX-NVIS is lightweight and deployable by a single person in under 10 minutes, making it ideal for rapid deployment scenarios. The system includes a 9' 6" vertical DX element, four 35' NVIS elements, a 25' NVIS element, and an 8' grounded counterpoise wire—all constructed with Kevlar-reinforced PTFE for durability in harsh conditions. Horizontal and vertical polarization options provide flexibility for different communication needs, while the included auto-match system ensures consistent performance without additional tuning. The integrated tripod and guying system allow for secure setup on various terrains.
With a maximum transmit power of 250 watts PEP SSB and support for advanced digital communications modes, including MIL-STD-188 M110a, the DX-NVIS antenna is built to handle demanding operational requirements. Its 68 x 68-foot footprint and 15.5-foot height strike a balance between compactness and performance. Whether for emergency communications, DXing, or NVIS operations, this antenna offers a reliable and efficient solution for amateur radio operators and professionals alike.
